(September 08, 2024)
INTRODUCTION
In a world of rapid globalization, legal systems are converging to address the complexities of modern life. The Western world has seen advancements through legal harmonisation, as exemplified by the European Union. Meanwhile, Muslim-majority nations explore ways to bridge Sharīʿah principles with contemporary legal frameworks.
The Global Summit on Harmonisation of Sharīʿah and Law (GSHSL 2024) provides a unique platform to examine these efforts. We will delve into the diverse approaches of countries like Pakistan, Malaysia, and Nigeria, analyzing their successes and challenges. The summit will spotlight both individual and institutional mechanisms driving harmonization efforts, ultimately exploring how these models can contribute to a more just and harmonious global society.
This event is essential for policymakers, legal and Sharīʿah scholars, institutional representatives, and researchers. Together, we will explore policies impacting economic development, social structures, and healthcare – all while upholding human rights, navigating Islamic finance and waqf principles, addressing family law complexities, and confronting ethical dilemmas within biotechnology and reproductive health. The GSHSL 2024 promises to generate actionable insights and foster collaborations for building a future where diverse legal systems work in harmony.
